Summer is coming!!!

The long winter is finally leaving us and we jump right into summer. On thing that I have noticed while living here in Alaska for the last couple of years is that there are only two seasons here; summer and winter. Summer takes up about 4 months out of the year, and winter gets the rest. The 50 degree days have been trying so hard to melt away all the snow that we had this winter, and they have almost completed their task. The lakes are taking a little longer, but I'm guessing they will be broken up in the next couple of weeks as well. We are very much looking forward to the summer months ahead.

This summer I will be working at our Alpine Camp which is primarily junior high age campers. It is also the biggest of our four camp programs. We usually run anywhere between 30 and 70 campers per week. I am really looking forward to this summer. There are quite a few things that I am looking to add to our camp program this summer. I am also looking to change up the way our staff is organized. My hope in some of these changes is that this will give each one of our staff a better feeling of their importance to the program. Previously the staff was all given an overall purpose. This spread each staff across a large goal to complete forcing them to be spread thin. This summer I would like to better direct each staff member to a smaller goal hopefully encouraging them to strive to complete that goal to their best ability. With all of this said... There are a ton of logistics that need to be taken into account, which makes for a busy time preparing for the summer.

On top of wanting to make some changes we are looking at a smaller staff than normal. We are still short quite a few counselors for this summer as well as a director for our frontier camp. With only a month until camp starts up we are hoping that God will provide the people we need. If you are reading this and know of anyone who is looking for a place to serve this summer please send them my way.

This summer Chelsea is planning on spending her time helping me out where needed as well as leading a weekly Bible Study with some of our youth group girls and possibly taking some classes. This is looking to be another busy summer, but I feel like God has been prodding me in the direction we are looking to go.
