Well we are back to that time of year again... The Holidays and counting the days until the Winter Solstice! Thankfully with our new house it hasn't been until mid November that I started to morn the loss of daylight, and I know it will be coming back soon! We no longer see the sun from our house during the day, but it does get daylight around 10 and doesn't get dark until about 3 or 3:30... Some days it is hard to get motivated. We tend to want to go into hibernation mode about this time of year. But we have been keeping ourselves busy anyway! We are soon to be finishing our spare room in our house and hopefully moving Aaron and my stuff in there so we can start demo on the master bedroom.
We are also staying busy with youth group and raising money for Ecuador. We decided to sell fudge and goodie jars this year and we will be getting together most of the day Saturday to work on those.
We have also had the opportunity to follow our Glacier View Volleyball team around the state to watch them play! They are a mixed 6 team (meaning they have 3 guys and 3 girls that play at a time) and they made it to state this year! They didn't defend there last years state title, but they were able to pull off a third place win and we are so proud of them.
The rest of the month is looking to be pretty busy too. We get to stay home next weekend, but after that we will be back in Anchorage the next 2 weeks! Lots of miles being put on our car! Paul and Karie are planning on visiting us Christmas day to new Years and we are excited to show Paul what Alaska looks like in the winter. We are hoping that we get some more snow soon so that he can enjoy the true beauty of Alaska in the winter.
So far our winter has not been snowy... we just got out of a week long sub zero spell and have only gotten snowed on 3 times. We are hoping that we get more snow before it gets cold again, often if it is to cold then it is to cold to get snow! No snow is also hard on the pipes around camp... without the snow for insulation we have more issues with pipes freezing.
