Winter Sports Weekend... and a migraine!!! (shhh... turn off the lights)

It is currently 5:24 here in Alaska, and I have been awake for exactly 2 hours. This is not how I was planning on finishing off my long weekend... but ill start from the beginning.

Chelsea had off work Monday this week because of parent teacher conferences, and I had off Monday this week because I have a youth group event this Saturday. We decided to take this opportunity to have a nice long weekend together over this Valentine's Holiday. Saturday I spend the entire morning working around the house (Something we don't usually have much time to do). I was able to get the roof finished on Tank's dog house. Here are a couple of pictures of the process.

This was taken in November shortly after starting the house. All framed up.

This was that same day. It is insulated and the sides are on. Tank loves it.

This Saturday I was able to finish the trim around the roof which allowed me to shingle it.

Just another picture of the same. I still have a long way to go before my log cabin dog house is finished. I'll post pictures again when its finished, but it will probably be another couple of months.

After finishing the roof on the doghouse Chelsea and I went snowshoeing. Living at Camp we are not allowed to have tank off the leash on camp property, but since we live on a lake its not to far for us to get off property. It makes going for a walk so much better. The lakes here have been frozen thick enough to drive a truck on them since November. It also means we have a very large playground in our back yard now. Tank Loves it. Anyway, we took off across the lake with the plans to hike up Teepee Ridge. It was a gorgeous day, and it only took us about an hour to get up to the look out point. Chelsea had packed us a lunch, so we enjoyed that as well as the view. Here are a few pictures from there.

The View... You cant beat that.

Tank loves the snow.

Tank also enjoyed the view... or the guy by the truck along side the road.

The hike left us very sore, so we finished the day with some lounging around watching Smallville. We still had to lead Sunday school Sunday morning for our high schooler's and Jr. High Boys. We left here Sunday after church and headed into Anchorage. We spent most of the afternoon and evening running errands and going out to eat. We went to Red Robin. Normally one of Chelsea's Favorites, but this time was not so good. Chelsea wasn't feeling very well so she tried to order a side salad and the bottomless fries that Red Robin is known for... To her dismay she was told, "Sorry we are running out of fries, they only come with the burgers." If a restaurant is famous for one thing you would think they wouldn't run out of that one thing. Anyway, needless to say we were not happy with our meal there. Not a great way to spend my ma's Christmas gift card. Sorry Ma!!! We then headed home and spent some time catching up with Chelsea's Gma and Gpa Dennis who have been out of state for a couple of months. Monday's plan was to go snowboarding down to Alyeska, which we were able to follow through with. We got there, got our lift tickets (thanks Becca) and we proceeded to go snowboarding. We made it up the lift, and back down about a quarter of the way and it happened. I felt the migraine setting in. The fuzzy vision... and its all downhill from there. (if you get them you know what I'm talking about) I was hoping that it wasn't true, and that it would just go away, even though they never do. We were able to snowboard for a little over an hour before it got too bad and we had to leave. Even though our day was ruined by my brains lack of functioning it was still a blast while it lasted. After taking a nap we were able to finish off our day with some Moose's Tooth and a nice two hour drive back home. The weekend was not everything I was expecting, but I was able to spend it with someone great, and that's all that's important. After working on this for over an hour I will leave you with the hopes that you made it through my lengthy post. God Bless.

Just the two of us. Three years and two days from when we started this adventure... The best decision of my life.

It's good to hear about how things are going. I also loved seeing the pictures. It's so beautiful, I miss it so much! I'm sorry to hear about the not so great experiences at Red Robin and Alyeska. I'm keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.
