All summer it is amazing to hear the stories of campers who's lives are being changed. The excitement is evident in the staff as you sit down to a normal Wednesday breakfast and the Frontier Director is still blown away by the 4 new decisions made the night before, making 7 for the week. Everyday I check facebook and quite often a staff memeber has made a comment on a deep conversation they have had with their campers that lead to the camper making a first time decision to follow Christ. It is amazing what God is doing! Every Saturday we send campers home to very different lifestyles. Some come from amazing Christian homes, and others go home to a parent, or parents that don't really care. It is hard to see them go, but we know that the work that God has begun here will not stop, and we are praying for these campers even after they are gone. I know that many of our counselors are also keeping in touch with campers long after they are gone and pouring into them more with each letter or each facebook chat.
So far we have had 3 great speakers. We had the opportunity to have Don Stubbs and Travis Troyer up here for the first 2 weeks. They run a discipleship ministry and they were able to challenge campers in their walk with Christ.
Joel Ruisch (our camp director) spoke week three and he was able to really hit home our Theme and theme Verse. Our theme for the summer is Identify and it is based off the verses Isaiah 41:9-10.
This week we have Joel Kiekenvield and he has had a chance to help campers learn about who they are in Christ and to make sure they Know that God likes them and Loves them. Really challenging.
With all the great things that have been happening this summer, we have also had many trials. Really keep Aaron in prayer as he is working through many different things that Satan keeps throwing our way.
- Pray for our staff that they will have the endurace to face the many trials that are happening here at camp and at home.
- Pray for Alyssa and Eli Craig. They just found out that their uncle passed away.
- Pray for continual wisdom for Aaron and Joel as they manage the staff God has given them.
- Pray for continual health. So far many of our staff has stayed fairly healthy, and it would be great if God would continue to give bless them with that.
- Pray for Kacie and Jared Werkema, Derek and Bridget McAllery, Brian and Nicole Wilbert, and other staff in the process of raising support to join our team here at Victory.
- Pray for safe travel this weekend. We get the opportunity to show our staff a bit of Alaska. We are headed to Seward Sunday to Tuesday.
- Pray for a camp Nurse. (4 wks down and 3 more to go, but it would be a huge help to our resident full time moms that are certified nurses if we had a bit of a full time relief worker)
- Praise for what God has done and is doing.
- Praise for Paul and Karie Meeuwsen (aaron's parents) who are here to visit (and helping get the baby's room ready)
- Praise for the staff God has provided for us this summer.
