Week 6 almost over...

It has been quite a ride this summer. Chelsea has been doing a pretty good job this summer keeping you all informed with the happenings of camp, so I thought it was my turn. I ended up sick this afternoon so I spent most of the evening sleeping that off. I think its just my body's way of saying stop. This summer is very different for me than any summer I have had before working at Victory. The role of Program Director has gone well, but has proven to be more stressful than any role I have played before. It has been a great journey so far this summer.

My preparations for this summer began back in November when I started to work through the applications for this summer. Things have not really slowed down much since then. It has been very cool to see how God as worked through us to put together the team we have at camp this summer. Even though it is not without some trials, this is the best staff I have ever seen at Victory. We have around 60 staff this summer, and all of them are dedicated to serving God here this summer.

The crazy schedule for me started in mid May when I switched to full time at camp for the summer. I have been working my regular days of 8am to 9pm or 10pm ever since. My goal once camp started was to take Wednesday's off each week. For the most part that has happened, but very rarely does that mean a full day without doing something camp related. It has been good, but I am looking forward to getting back to a normal schedule (max 50 hours a week instead of 90) here in a couple of weeks. We have one week of normal camp left and then on to our Family/Wilderness Adventure Camps. So in about two weeks life will slow down again for a little while.

I am looking forward to spending some time in August and Early September relaxing and hauling wood for the winter before our little baby girl arrives. The baby room is looking good, and very purple. As I sit in the purple office I can enjoy the huge new windows that my dad put in. We will try to post some pictures soon. All in all life is good, and for the first time since we have been on staff here at Victory I think I will make it through a summer without getting completely burned out. I think we are getting a little closer to figuring out a good balance for me. Thank you all for your prayers.
