The End... Sorta
I am currently sitting at the front desk up at the lodge waiting for the last of our summer staff to sign out. Today is cleaning day, my least favorite day of the summer. As I am waiting I can't help but to reflect back on the summer, and be thankful for all the things that God has done through the staff this summer. I am also thankful for the growth in myself being stretched once again far beyond I could ever have imagined (well I might be more thankful after a couple of days of rest).
For a couple of years now I have always said that I would rather have a strong staff than a large one to help run summer camp. I was tested in that this summer, and although a little more stressful at times, I still agree with that. There were times this summer that I questioned how it was going to work out when we had 20 campers coming and only one healthy counselor. In that situation he provided a guy to fill in for the week. I questioned how we were going to make it through the summer, but God provided the energy to make it. I was blessed to work with some of the best young leaders I could have asked for.
The reason that the title in this includes, "Sorta" is that even though camp is over for the most part we still have one more week of S.A.L.T. campers. This is our high school servant and leadership training program. Next week I will be working directly with them to wrap up some of the extra stuff around camp.
God has shown me so much in my weakness this summer, and I am thankful for that. Thank you all for your prayers over us this summer. We are very excited to take a bit of a Sabbatical this fall to get recharged and excited about our ministry here in Alaska again. Thank You.
