Well we are back from Ecuador and it was quite a trip! It was amazing to see how smoothly everything went and how much a little bit of physical labor could encourage the people that were there. When we went we knew we were working on a water project, but were unaware of the exact details. We flew into Quito and the next day drove up to the village. The village welcomed us warmly and watched us play with there kids for a few hours before we called it a night and slept to prepare for the next days work...
The next day we were headed out by 7:30 to the worksite... we got there and realized that the majority of our time would be spent hauling rocks, gravel, and sand down a 300 ft steep hill... We worked 4 hrs there each day and came home exhausted! But the kids had great attitudes and were huge troopers, and I think the really reflected a Christ like attitude in what they were doing! When we got home we had lunch, a short siesta and then it was off to play with kids and run a VBS. Somewhere our group mustered up energy to play soccer, lift kids in the air, sing songs, throw frisbees, and blow bubbles. It was truly a strength that came from God.
We spent 3 full days in the village, then packed up and took a day to get back to Quito. We then had the pleasure of being shown around Ecuador by Cesar and Nancy. It was a lot of fun, and cool to see places many of us had never been.
Overall the trip went smoothly... I suffered from a bit of morning sickness in the evening, but it could've been a lot worse. We were all glad to get home and I was excited to get back to my baby!
Since we have been home spring has really set it... we have had many highs of 40 degrees this past week, and my flower seeds are planted and starting to sprout. Aaron is getting geared up for summer. We are still in need of guys 18 and older that have a heart to served God this summer! So if you know anyone send them our way!
I am excited to see how this summer goes with the additions to our staff. I am hoping to see Aaron a little bit more between May and August, but time will tell!
We covet your continuous prayer and support, we are hoping to get out a letter in the next month and I will try and update this blog with some pics from our trip soon!
