Summer is here once again! And camp is getting crazy. Summer staff started to arrive over the last week and should all be here by Saturday lunch. But before I talk about summer let me back you up a few weeks.
Beginning of May was slightly crazy as we wrapped up youth group and said goodbye to our graduating Seniors. Aaron had the privilege to be the commencement speaker at Glacier View School's graduation, and was able to send off the 2 graduating seniors from the school with a few words of advice as they get transition into life out of high school. We also were able to go into Anchorage for a few days and build a new deck for my parents...
After wrapping up church, Aaron had the chance to go with an Alaska InReach team from Victory to Tanalian Bible Camp on Lake Clark. They had a week long work trip, where they partnered with Tanalian to help with some construction projects they needed done in preparation for their own campers to come soon. Tanalian Bible Camp is just one of the other great camps in the state of Alaska that is working at bringing the word of God to every area of Alaska. They have the opportunity to fly in kids from Villages for a week of camp that is so life changing for many of them! Aaron was glad to see what there camp is about and was able to put his handyman skills to work helping them build doors and trim for a new stage in their new open air gym that they just built. We are hoping to one day do a trip as a family out there because I would love to see more of the Beauty that God has created here in Alaska.

The team that flew out to Tanalian and there sweet ride.
Aaron's trip to Tanalian actually coincided with our 6th Anniversary. I was a little bit bummed to not be able to spend it with him, and even tried to get out to see him... But at the end of the night, he was able to surprise me and come back early with one of our former youth group kids that flies. And we were able to spend at least the end of the day together.
We got back from Anchorage Sunday afternoon and had Memorial day as a family at home. Tuesday Aaron was off with the leadership staff for leadership orientation and a camp out. I was able to take the girls out to the campsite both days and on Wednesday the girls and I tagged along on a hike up Lion's Head. (Lion's Head is a big rock that sits between the highway and the Glacier about 10 miles up the rode from Camp) It took us about and hour to climb, but was totally worth it! Aaron carried Raylee all the way up and I had Skyler on me.

Aaron will be busy now with orientation and training, so the girls and I will find times that it is appropriate for us to tag along, but other times you will probably find us playing at the playground with friends, going for walks, or hanging out at home for nap time. I am really hoping we see Aaron a little more this summer as he takes on his new role as the Director of the Doulas program. He has 3 groups coming for 10 days each and those long weeks he will be really busy, but the rest of the summer he is going to just be able to be in a support role to Justin and the rest of the program team. And hopefully be able to come home most nights for time with his family.
