We have been back home now for 3 weeks and are slowly getting back into the swing of things. When we were in Michigan we were given a lot of flack for bringing the cold weather with us. We experienced negative temperatures, lots of snowfall, and a few snow days at the school. Well... I want to tell you it wasn't us! We came home to an unheard of Alaskan heat wave! For the last week is has been above 20 degrees and this weekend it went up to above freezing! I am looking at my outside thermometer right now and it reads 34.9 degrees. I even got 53 in my car this weekend when I was in town. This is not Alaskan January weather, but we will take it. With the sun returning more everyday it almost seems like spring is around the corner. I know it won't last forever, but the girls and I have taken advantage of it and walked to the lodge almost every day.
Besides weather, we had a busy weekend here at camp. We had our SnoMania retreat where our program partners with youth pastors from Anchorage, the valley and with youth for Christ for a big retreat of Junior High school kids. We had about 150 kids come to enjoy fun activities, and a great speaker. And most of them get to go home with youth groups and leaders that will follow up with what they learned here. It's a great way for youth groups to come and recharge and hopefully fan the flames to go home on fire to serve our Lord!
Aaron was busy doing van runs to pick up campers, helping make things run smoothly, running activity stations (which included a few runs up and down the tubing hill), and reconnecting with summer staff from last year.
Overall it was a good weekend. Here is a pictures of the group that was in.
Pray for them as they head home that they will continue to let God move and work in them.
